We are currently looking to recruit motivated individuals, who would like to make a difference to the patient experience by joining the Horton in-house Shift Portering team here at Banbury.
Experience of working in a diverse organisation is essential and previous experience in shift work in providing a 24/7 service along with NHS experience would be an advantage.
Working as part of a team, to provide a Portering service that supports all aspects of patient care and the general running of a hospital.

To assist departments with the movement of patients using clinical manual handling procedures including 'pat sliding' and 'log rolling' techniques.
Use machinery, equipment or materials as required throughout the hospital site, ensuring the use of such equipment and materials is in compliance with Trust policies and procedures.
Collect pathology specimens, containers and units of blood, as and when required in accordance with safe handling procedures.
Transfer pharmacy supplies, fluids, controlled drugs and emergency equipment as required, following agreed procedures. Complete paperwork as required.
Undertake non-routine Portering duties such as office and equipment moves, escort duties and the retrieval/movement of patient notes and medical records.
Respond to service delivery issues using own judgement and problem solving when the line manager/senior supervisor is not available.
Assist security staff, when requested with challenging patients or relatives and carry out site locking and unlocking as instructed. On an ad-hoc basis, to use approved cash in transit procedures, as approved by audit.
Deliver and collect patient food trolleys across the hospital site, using manual handling procedures.
Movement of deceased patients from clinical areas to the mortuary, using clinical manual handling as necessary.
Move trolleys, beds and wheelchairs as necessary across the hospital site in accordance with health and safety procedures.
Collect and sort mail for delivery across the hospital site. Sort as necessary and where required put mail for onward processing though the franking machine.
Attend trauma/adult/cardiac/major incident/fire calls as part of the agreed incident response team. Investigate and assess alarms and situations, with agreed procedures. Inform the Operations Manager of any outcomes.
Carry out the general cleaning of bed frames, trolleys and bariatric equipment prior to storage. Clean wheelchairs before daily use.
To cover the duties of radiology porters, where required.
This will include transporting patients, showing reasonable judgements and liaising with clinical staff to ensure that patients are ready to be moved.
To check the identity of patients in line with Trust procedures prior to moving patients.To cover the duties of the Accident & Emergency porters as required.
This will include transporting patients, showing reasonable judgement and liaising with clinical staff to ensure that patients are ready to be moved.
To complete all necessary 'on the job' training, mandatory and statutory training and other specific training required by the Trust to ensure safety and compliance with all policies and procedures.
To deliver clean linen to wards and departments and to collect soiled linen, general and clinical waste complying with legislation and Trust Infection Control procedures.
