We are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Principal Hydraulic Modeller to join our Water Management Team on a permanent basis.

This position could be based in Edinburgh, Cambridge, Birmingham, London, Reading, Bristol or Taunton.

You will have the opportunity to be the technical lead for hydraulic modelling on a range of multi-disciplinary projects, including flood alleviation studies, flood risk assessment, major infrastructure and development work.

You will be involved in supporting works to water bodies classified under the Reservoirs Act, supporting work driven by the Water Framework Directive, wetland design and engineering design of hydraulic structures and navigational works.

You will be responsible as the technical lead for the production, analysis and review of 1D/2D hydraulic models and provide support to the wider team spreading best practise across the business and be a key point of contact for supporting multi-disciplinary projects.

You will be involved in the production of hydraulic modelling reports, flood risk assessment reports, survey specifications and the management of surveyors.

You will be responsible for undertaking a technical lead and discipline review role and the mentoring and development of junior members of the team.

Your client and stakeholder liaison skills at all levels will be important.

ABOUT YOU
You will be a BSc/BEng/MEng qualified and a Chartered or Incorporated Member of a professional body (CIWEM / ICE).

You will have experience in hydraulic modelling packages including a range of Flood Modeller, ESTRY, TUFLOW or ICM to support engineering design, river engineering, restoration/habitat improvement, flood alleviation schemes and surface water design on projects from pre planning stage all the way through to construction detail.

You will have experience of producing and running 1D/2D hydraulic models and be able to support others will resolving modelling technical issues.

You will be able to communicate technical issues to project stakeholders and present solutions and options to resolve project challenges.

You will have an understanding of land development and national planning policy. You will have strong GIS skills using Arc, MapInfo or QGIS.

There will be an opportunity to take undertaken project management or focus on technical work depending upon your chosen career direction.
