Location - Sale Waterside, Waterside House, M33 7ZF.

This post includes hybrid working, however there is an expectation that you

will be in the office at least 1 day per week

Salary range - Band 9 SCP

Salary amount - £39,493 to £42,503 per annum

Working Pattern -

About the Role


Trafford Youth Justice aims to deliver high quality services to young people and their families, victims, the Courts and the wider community aimed at improving outcomes for all adolescents.

The role of Team Leader will be integral in the day-to-day management of a multi-agency youth justice team providing consultation and support to staff.

It is intended that the post holder be an exemplar of good practice across a specific function lead and provide direct line management to designated staff.


In conjunction with the wider management team the post will promote the vision of Trafford Youth Justice and support the delivery of the Youth Justice Business and Improvement plans.

You will work to TYJ values, policies, aims and objectives, through personal example and positive direction to ensure they translate into practical and effective action.

The post holder will also have knowledge of Children's Social Care, restorative justice and preventative work. They will be working within a management team delivering in these areas.

  • To provide management and professional support and supervision to Youth Justice Case Workers operating within the Children's Directorate
  • To work closely with Service Managers and Strategic Leads to ensure Service delivery plans and targets are met.
  • To manage a number of key projects to ensure that service outcomes are achieved.

Key duties

  • Monitoring Youth Justice Worker's caseload management against relevant procedures to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Allocate work to staff on the basis of service user needs and the YJ priorities and objectives.
  • Provide direct line management including the supervision and appraisal of staff.
  • To be able to work as part of a cohesive service team creating a culture that inspires, motivates and challenges colleague.
  • To monitor and evaluate service delivery ensuring staff adherence and contribution to performance objectives and undertaking data analysis where required.
  • Work alongside the management team in developing and delivering Team plans and priorities.
  • Contribute to service reviews and in conjunction with the Practice Managers develop strategies to promote quality improvements ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practice.
  • To lead on the responsibility for specialist designated areas of work which may include commissioned projects e.g. NEET, Child Sexual Exploitation, Missing from Home, Special Educational NEEDs, Children in Care, Activity Agreement, Employer & Training provider work This specialist work will support staff and officers responsible for operational delivery.
  • Provide a quality service to the Courts. To develop close working relationships within the Youth and Crown Courts, Clerks to Justice and the CPS.
