Job Introduction:

At Colas, we are looking for someone to join the team as a Commercial Assistant at the Guilden Sutton site in Cheshire West and Chester.

You will be required to support the Commercial Team on a variety of different projects on multiple workstreams.

Main Responsibility:

As a Commercial Assistant you will be responsible for the supply chain procurement management, administration of contracts and / or subcontracts including payment mechanisms, change procedures, and resolution of contentious issues, final accounts agreement and management.

You will ensure identification, recording, notification, and negotiation of change in accordance with the contract. You will evaluate change through analysis of rates or compensation methods, and agreement of the effects of change.

You will possess a good knowledge of standard forms of contract such as NEC, Term Service Contract and have a good understanding of risk management.

You will understand the various uses of Bills of Quantities, Schedules of Rates, and Activity Schedules and their preparation in accordance with standard methods of measurement.

You will understand the different risks associated with measurement and pricing carried out under re-measurement contracts, and target cost/cost reimbursable contracts and design and construct contracts.

You will have an appreciation of the different approaches to pricing for example quantity and time related items, method related charges and the evaluation of change.

The role as a Commercial Assistant will reports to the Managing QS with close working relationships with the Project manager; other project team members; client stakeholders; designers; subcontractors, Commercial Team members, the legal and insurance department, finance department, pre-construction procurement, and operational delivery teams, Procurement, and the Business Units.

You will also need to communicate and work closely with client organisations, other contractors and key suppliers.
