We are hiring for an Editor or Senior Editor to join our fast growing Audio team on a 12-month fixed term contract, covering a period of secondment in the team.

Working with exceptional acting talent, producers and studios, we publish award-winning and bestselling audiobooks such as Lisa Jewell's _None of This is True_, Steven Bartlett's _The Diary of a CEO_, Dr Julie Smith's _Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before?_, Jeff Kinney's _Wimpy Kid_ series and Rick Riordan's _Percy Jackson_ novels.


We have an exciting opportunity to join this fast-paced team as an editor working across adult and children's titles, playing a key role in ensuring our publishing and casting is the best in the business.


The Opportunity


You will be working independently on some of our biggest titles, casting actors, working with recording studios and doing detailed editorial work on texts and briefs for readers and studios.

You'll work closely with authors, agents and narrators, and with colleagues across the business.

Day to day you can expect to be:

  • The first point of contact for our publishing divisions
  • Delivering ambitious and creative production approaches for our audiobooks
  • Keeping our titles on their critical path, overseeing and organising the production and taking responsibility for managing costs.
  • Sharing your commercial insight and market knowledge

What you'll bring
We'd love to hear from you if you combine a love for audio and experience with the publishing process.

We'll need you to bring an author-focused approach and the knowledge of the end-to-end critical path of a finished book and audiobook.

You will also need to understand how texts and voices intertwine and have the commercial mindset to understand what will work in the market.


A strong team player able to communicate effectively to a wide range of people, you'll also be organised and proactive and able to keep on top of multiple projects.

As part of your cover letter we would like you to tell us about what you think the current trends are in the audio market and about what you think the key elements to creating a great audiobook are (in no more than 300 words).


Salary:
We are open to hiring at either Editor or Senior Editor level. An offer will be made in line with how your skills and experience align with the role.


Editor:
From £31,500


Senior Editor:
From £37,000
