Job description 1

Over the past year, the Corruption, Crime and Policing Unit (CCPU) have been undertaking a programme of change that has consolidated the way it works to be more joined-up and better understand and tackle the threats faced by our agency.

A large part of this programme was to combine its two existing SOC functions, the Serious and Organised Crime Unit (SOCU) and the Multi-Agency Response to Serious and Organised Crime (MARSOC).

Following the award to SOCU of an £11m funding uplift to develop capability to manage high priority serious and organised criminals, it was clear that the impact of the uplift needed to be proportionate and effective.

To support this, the alignment of SOCU and MARSOC was identified as a timely opportunity to develop a stronger approach to SOC within HMPPS.

Now under the new name of SOC Operations, the alignment has reduced duplication, improved intelligence sharing and introduced a single view of our SOC cohort.

SOC Operations consists of a Co-ordination Centre and Custody, Community and Multi-Agency teams located across five regions covering England and Wales.
