My client in Retford who are leading suppliers of process and packaging solutions to various sectors such as the dairy, food, industrial and personal care industries.


They represent some of the best known brand names in the industry proving both genuine and alternative spare parts and components.

The salary is between £23.5k to £28k dependant on experience. This increases after training is completed.

Hours are 8am to 5pm Monday to Thursday with an early finish on the Friday at 4pm. There are two 10minute breaks and a 40minute lunch.

28 days holiday including bank holidays + 1 extra day off on birthday.


When trained there will be some occasions where you will need to work on customers sites and stay away from home for short periods of time.

Driving licence would be needed.


Although mechanical experience is not essential but advantageous if you are dextrous and able to work with detailed written instructions.


They are also looking for a trainee PHE operative if you are interested and they will put you through the qualifcations needed and traineeship leading to an apprenticeship.

Principle Duties

  • Repair, refurbishment and replacement of plate heat exchangers including complete packs, plates and gaskets;
  • Working at our workshops operating machinery, cleaning, testing and refurbishing plate heat exchangers;
  • Working on customer sites testing, removing, dismantling, reassembling and reinstalling plate heat exchangers;
  • Working and assisting other divisions of Moody Direct as and when required in satisfying both customer and internal requirements;
  • To ensure that all work is carried out safely and complies with all regulations including but not limited to Health and Safety at Work Act etc;
  • To ensure that agreed procedures are followed at all times;
  • To ensure the workshops are kept clean and tidy;
  • To ensure that all Documentation, Timesheets and Expense Claims are completed and are submitted promptly and correctly to enable prompt invoicing or payment;
  • To play an active part in the development, promotion and growth of all divisions of Moody Direct.
Key Tasks

  • Receipting customer goods into the heat exchanger workshop;
  • Removal of heat exchanger gaskets;
  • Cleaning of heat exchanger plates;
  • Inspection of heat exchanger plates;
  • Regasketing heat exchanger plates
  • Completing supporting Quality control documentation at each service stage.
  • Supporting Service engineers with onsite work activities.
  • To carry out Service, Installation, Relocation, Commissioning and Repair work within your skills and abilities. Equipment will mainly include but not be limited to Heat Exchangers, Homogenisers, Separators, Pumps, Valves, Fillers and other process and packaging equipment;
  • To develop good working relationships with your customers and colleagues and to promote the activities of Moody Direct;
  • To maintain good communication with other Service staff and colleagues in other departments;
  • To ensure all paperwork is fully completed, kept up to date and submitted promptly as required. Eg, Service Reports, Timesheets, Expenses;
  • To help ensure that stock/parts are correctly booked to and from stores.

Formal Qualifications and skills

  • Fork truck licence;
  • Full UK Driving Licence essential to the position;
  • Basic mechanical engineering knowledge;
  • Ability to understand and accurately follow written procedures;
  • Manual handling. Eg the role is of a physical nature.


In addition, the PHE Service Engineer must be prepared to undertake any reasonable requests made to meet the business needs of the company.


The nature of the position involves extensive working away on Customers sites around the UK, Ireland and possibly in mainland Europe.

This necessitates antisocial hours, frequent weekend working, overtime and regular overnight stays in hotels.
