Job Type:PermanentThe Research Team at Alzheimer's Research UK (ARUK) is dedicated to funding groundbreaking research to understand, diagnose, and cure dementia diseases.

ARUK funds dementia research through an extensive portfolio of grant schemes and strategic initiatives both nationally and internationally.

The Research Officer - Projects will play a significant role in supporting the Research Programmes Manager and the Head of Research.

They will assist in organizing research conferences and events, contribute to special research programmes, and support the coordination of scientific advisory board meetings.

This role is essential to foster ARUK's research objectives and promote engagement within the research community.

They will be collaborating with the Research Team and other teams at Alzheimer's Research UK, such as the Events Team and the Communications and Engagement Team.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Research Conferences and events

Assist in the programme development and content for Alzheimer's Research UK's annual research conference.
Contribute to continuous improvement plans for the Alzheimer's Research UK conference and events programme in collaboration with the events team.
Assist the wider research team in developing events to support strategic partners.

Special Research Programmes

Support the development of special research programmes for Alzheimer's Research UK, including the Early Career Researcher (ECR) Programme and the development of our Research Network.
Assist in the implementation and evaluation of the ECR programme events and activities.
Support in the management of the Network Centres.

Scientific Advisory Board and strategic meetings

Assist in the organization of Alzheimer's Research UK's Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) meetings.
Support in coordinating meeting content, taking minutes, and ensuring followup actions.
Aid in the recruitment and induction processes for SAB members.

External role

Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with key external stakeholders, particularly ARUK funded researchers and other funding bodies, and to seek opportunities to further the strategic and operational research aims of ARUK.
Contribute to external events as a representative of the charity including national and international conferences.

What we are looking for:

Familiarity with the UK funding landscape and dementia research.
Good eye for detail with the ability to organise large volumes of information.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and adhere to deadlines.
Prior experience in a team environment.
Demonstrable commitment to inclusive working, placing value on equity and diversity.
Good IT skills with the ability to work with grant management systems.
Commitment to ARUK's vision, mission and values.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to capture and summarise key information to different stakeholders.
Organised and able to coordinate various projects concurrently.

Additional Information:

Roles that are classed as part of the Agile ways of working are not able to claim any costs for Mileage/Travel on Public Transport, Accommodation and/or Meals.

This includes when attending the office for various meetings/events.

Our office is at 3 Riverside, Granta Park, Great Abingdon, Cambridge, CB21 6AD.

Salary:
Circa £31,000 per annum, plus benefits.
