Our Policy and Communications Team plays a crucial role in telling the story of our work and its impact, building our profile, our media presence, our brand and managing our reputation.

We are currently looking for a Senior Press and PR Officer to join the team, where you will have the opportunity to help us grow our reach and work towards achieving our vision that everyone should have a place to call home and can fulfil their hopes and ambitions.

In this fast-paced role you will join our Press and PR team, and work to build and maintain relationships with national and regional journalists to raise awareness of the work of one of the country's leading homelessness charities.

Other key responsibilities will include:

Responding to proactive and reactive media challenges with the opportunity to write and think creatively to reach a variety of audiences via several different platforms.
Managing relationships with a mix of stakeholders, including the press teams of our corporate fundraising partners and commissioning services, alongside providing general Press and PR advice and support as required.
Providing support, and briefings to members of the senior management team and colleagues across the organisation in relation to Press and PR work.
Staying up to date on relevant news, current affairs and policy work.

Whilst our main office is currently in Tower Hill, London, we are flexible and encourage a blended working pattern including working from home and across other London or St Mungo's hub locations.

About you

You might already be working as a Senior Press and PR officer looking for a new challenge or looking for the next step in your media career.

Either way, we are looking for a positive, patient, and agile communications professional who has news sense and a genuine interest in supporting the aims and ambitions of St Mungo's.

To be successful in this exciting role you will be someone who:

Thrives underpressure and can juggle multiple and competing demands, while prioritising your own workload.
Is a team player who is happy to take ownership of projects and step up to support colleagues as required.
Works with a solution focused approach who can see the 'big picture' and problem solve in a pressurised environment.
Has excellent written and verbal communication skills supporting effective relationship building with a variety of different people.
Has experience of delivering proactive PR and communications campaigns and the ability to deal with crisis communications.
