Requirements for Waiting Staff

Responsibilities of Waiting Staff


Upon greeting customers in a warm and friendly manner, waiting staff must guide them through the menu, help them make choices, and ensure that any allergies are properly communicated to the kitchen.

They are responsible for serving dishes and checking in with guests during their meals to ensure that everything is up to standard.

It is imperative that waiting staff make customers feel like they are part of the family.

Extensive knowledge of drinks and food on menus, as well as the ability to upsell them, are crucial.

Waiting staff must also be team players who adhere to company hygiene, health and safety standards, and licencing knowledge at all times.

They must wear the correct uniform and attend food safety training, product knowledge, and customer service skills courses to reinforce the companys health and food safety procedures in restaurants.
