What you will be doing:

The Consumer Finance Directorate is responsible for a range of diverse firms including, motor finance, retail finance credit brokers, high-cost credit, mortgage intermediaries, debt advisers, credit unions, and claims management companies.

The Consumer Finance data team plays a critical role in collecting, analysing, and drawing out value from data to support the work of the frontline teams in protecting the forty million, often vulnerable, consumers covered by our markets.

We are looking for someone who is meticulous with strong organisational skills and has experience of managing a range of workstreams, and who will help oversee the planned work of the team and support the delivery of data led solutions.

As the project supervisor you will be a key member of the team, responsible for ensuring that a range of different workstreams are kept on track and delivered to time through strong planning and oversight.

You will be responsible for identifying the key workstreams, setting timelines, engaging with stakeholders and governance checkpoints.

You will lead regular team catch ups to ensure pieces of work are running on time and identifying any blockers as well as maintaining plans and records to support reporting and governance as well as leading on drafting, and presenting, key papers for senior colleagues and committees.

The work the team deliver adds real value to the supervisory teams across the division and wider FCA.

It plays a key role in helping the FCA to identify harm and protect almost the entire UK population, as well as some of the most vulnerable consumers, who use consumer credit products.

What will you get from the role?

This role will give you an opportunity to develop your project management skills in delivering transformative data-focused projects.

Helping to embed new ways of working, navigating new and open-ended challenges will give you experience in the scoping, monitoring and problem solving of the large-scale data projects run by the Consumer Finance Directorate.

You will also get to learn about managing the processes and stakeholder requirements in sensitive analytical projects, the technical work required, and seeing the way analysis and data tools can be rolled out to help improve day-to-day operations at an organisation like the FCA.

There are a range of workstreams to manage from short problem fixes to long term upgrades and product development, giving you the opportunity to develop your project management skills across different types of experience.

In addition to the operational experience of such data projects, you will also get to work with a team of experienced analysts - expanding your understanding of how to think about approaching data collection and analysis.

Seeing the challenges in what can and can't be analysed, and how data analysis can be used to support the FCA objectives.

You will also be a key part of a team at the forefront of the FCA's response to the cost-of-living crisis, seeing how your work has a real impact in scrutinising firms so that the FCA can identify areas of concern and where to focus its efforts.

You will be helping everyday consumers who use the range of credit products we supervise and having an impact on people's everyday lives.
