Job description:
Galson Sciences Limited (GSL) is a dynamic consultancy and research company, specializing in radioactive waste management, surface, near surface and geological disposal and decommissioning worldwide.
If you are a recent post-graduate who is motivated by a challenging and innovative environment, and you love the idea of contributing to the development of a growing and dynamic company, then we are waiting for you to join our team
Galson are a small team of around 20 technical Consultants providing consultancy and research services in nuclear decommissioning and radioactive waste management to an international clientele.
You will have a multi-faceted role that will allow you to cover different duties such as technical research, project management and business development.
You will have the opportunity to support client and project relationships, interpret results and provide technical reports in line with client requirements.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver quality technical projects or parts of a project in a timely costeffective manner, in accordance with regulations and internal procedures where appropriate
- Written work and research on a wide range of industry, regulatory and policy projects in the UK and overseas and will be given a unique opportunity to develop allround experience in the nuclear decommissioning and radioactive waste management and disposal industry.
- Presenting research and findings to clients, and or workshops where necessary
- Providing a professional, consistent, and effective project management service including the use of project reporting systems in accordance with company standards and guidelines
- You will work in small teams alongside industry experts and been given ample opportunities to develop expertise early in your career.
Profile:
You will have an MSc or PhD in quantitative earth sciences, applied mathematics, physics, chemistry or engineering, or a relevant BSc and 3 years' experience.
You will be able to demonstrate:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written using the English language,
- An aptitude for applied problem solving,
- Selfmotivation and initiative,
- Successful teamworking and
- An ability to deliver high quality work to tight timescales.
- Work in the nuclear industry, and in particular radioactive waste management planning/options assessment, disposal, nuclear safety and related fields, potentially with experience at nuclear sites;
- Modelling, particularly with respect to geological characterisation, groundwater flow, gas transfer, and/or contaminant transport in geological media;
- Criticality safety assessments, radiological risk assessment; and/or environmental safety case development
- Experience of project and contract management
- Coding skills (e.g. Python, C)
