Adecco Public Sector are partnered with the Security Industry Authority (SIA), the UK Government's Arm's Length body responsible for the regulation of the private security industry, in the recruitment of an Investigations Officer on a permanent basis working within Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex and the North London Boroughs.

This role offers the opportunity for Hybrid working with attendance to the SIA's London, Docklands office required.

The Role


As Investigations Officer, you will operate as a member of the Compliance and Inspections team liaising and negotiating with stakeholders from across the private security industry to ensure effective regulation and compliance with the Private Security Industry Act 2001.


In addition, you will be involved in activities to support Home Office initiatives to tackle Serious and Organised Crime, Counter Terrorism, Violence Reduction and tackling Violence Towards Women and Girls.


Responsibilities
***- Operate consistently within corporate standards, policies and strategies.

  • Implement and support compliance strategies which are consistent with SIA national policies and guidelines.
  • As part of a larger national teamwork within a regional, sector or formal investigation team to meet compliance priorities.
  • Work collaboratively with officebased Customer Contact and Customer Compliance colleagues to ensure effective management of compliance issues.
  • Achieve team performance targets through the delivery of tactical solutions.
  • Work with noncompliant private security businesses to affect their compliance with PSIA
  • Undertake intelligence and evidence gathering and testing in line with tasking.
  • Escalate, deescalate or refer cases where colleagues or partners are better placed to undertake appropriate action.
  • Develop and maintain productive enforcement partnerships to maximise compliance with the Private Security Industry Act 200
  • Liaise with partner agencies to ensure tasks are undertaken in an expedient and costeffective manner.
  • Work with partners to identify and disrupt serious and organised crime associated with the industry.
  • Contribute to the delivery of wideranging national projects.
  • Conduct investigations into noncompliance with the Private Security Industry Act 2001 appropriately and expeditiously.
  • Obtain evidence to support business licensing and other decisions that may be appealed at court to civil standard.
  • Confidently present evidence in the relevant courts clearly, cogently and convincingly irrespective of whether that evidence supports or undermines the Authority's case.
  • Undertake tasking to address threats to our reputation and the regulatory outcomes we are looking to achieve e.g., training malpractice.
  • Plan and conduct interviews to an appropriate standard
  • Ensure all investigation activity is carried out in accordance with relevant legal requirements of applicable jurisdictions, rules of evidence and case law.
  • Identify and present relevant case material, including producing reports and evidence bundles. Where appropriate work with the SIA's legal advisors to progress cases to conclusion.
  • Ensure disclosure requirements for cases are complied with.
  • Contribute to development of organisational processes to ensure best practice.
  • Provide assistance, e.g., by gathering evidence, as may be required to aid decisions by the Authority.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested from time to time, within the jobholder's capabilities.

Relevant Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:


  • Hold or ability to Work towards achieving the Professionalising Investigative Practice Qualification.
  • Experience of complex case management with the ability to make autonomous and effective decisions that are supported by accurate records.
  • Excellent problem identification and solving skills, with an analytical ability for volumes of data and intelligence and a solution focus.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise competing demands to ensure performance targets are met and highquality results are achieved.
  • Previous experience of multiagency working and the ability to gain the respect and confidence of other law enforcement agencies.
