Organisation INCLUSION AND SUSTAINABILITY

Job Posting 29-Jun-2023, 12:13:22 PM

The People Directorate is here to shape the Bank's people strategy, provide information, help and advice to colleagues and line managers to thrive in their roles, and to deliver important people services across the Bank.

The directorate is made up of five teams:
Culture, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Employee Relations; People Operations; Talent Acquisition and Development, and Reward.

Our work helps the Bank to attract, identify, develop, nurture, retain and motivate the people we need to fulfil our mission.

  • This is an exciting new opportunity to join our friendly People Directorate team at the beginning of a transformation programme to build a modern and professional service as part of the Bank's Central Services programme
  • CS 2025.

Culture, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

  • The Culture, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (CDE&I) team is a new division within the People Directorate, and we spearhead efforts towards building an diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace for all. This aligns with one of the Bank's strategic priorities.

Through addressing organisation culture, inclusion, wellbeing and building community we are responsible for supporting CDE& I across the Bank and embedding a culture which delivers our more human, humble and in step with the changing world Bank vision.

  • Our team work closely in close collaboration with all our colleagues in the People Directorate and across the Bank, with our partners the employee networks delivering our vision.
  • Within CDE&I, the Diversity Team works with colleagues in People and across the Bank, including our Employee Networks, to deliver the Bank's strategic priority to build a diverse and inclusive Bank. We do this by ensuring that equity and inclusion is core to the development of our people, skills, and leadership.
  • We have a vacancy to fill a role in the Diversity Team, to join a team of four, that is made up of a manager and three DE&I advisers. You must have a passion for all things DE&I related. This needs to be coupled with a proven track record of flourishing in a team, while having the ability to work independently and in ambiguous circumstances adapting to need.
As a self-starter, you enjoy building relationships across a range of environments and unfazed by hierarchy or conflict.

You will use your DE&I expertise to advise local areas and our Employee Networks, in addition to delivering central initiatives.

We keep that expertise up-to-date and broadened through a variety of routes, including through the professional support, and learning and development available within the Division.

  • This role requires strong business partnering skills in particular, the confidence to challenge existing culture and ways of working. It requires a balance of thought leadership, the ability to engage, empathise with, and act upon a broad range of views and opinions beyond your own. You can then turn that into specific deliverables and undertake the execution.

Among other things, you will:

  • Have responsibility for maintaining the relationship with two of our Deputy Governors Areas (the Bank's business areas), and four of our Employee Networks, actively engaging with both to work in collaboration and support our strategic priority to build a diverse and inclusive Bank.
  • With our Data Scientist, produce and deliver our DE&I Scorecard, actively contributing to their ongoing improvement. You will interpret the data to identify trends and better understand progress made against agreed actions. In turn this will help understand the blockers to success, and how to measure success.
  • Support the development, implementation, delivery, and execution of DE&I initiatives and ensure that these are communicated effectively, both internally and externally, e.g., leading on demographicspecific action plans, or contributing to Bankwide events.
  • Manage the relationship with some of our external partners, ensuring that information is shared effectively.

  • Strong business partnering skills at all levels of the organisation: quickly establishing credibility with partners across the organisation, and building positive internal and external relationships.
  • Ability to analyse data, spot trends, identify issues and develop appropriate interventions (as a selfstarter)

Essential Criteria

  • Excellent communication skills, Comfortable addressing large, senior, and sometimes external audiences
  • A team player, couple with the ability to work autonomously and influence without direct management
