Description

The School of Education and Social Work at the University of Sussex is looking for a Research Fellow to work on an evaluation of the No Wrong Door (NWD) Service in Warrington.

NWD is an integrated, multi-agency service for young people aged 12 to 17 offering a pioneering way of providing support to young people who are within or on the edge of the care system, by way of a residential hub and outreach support.

NWD has been operating in Warrington since April 2021 and aims to reduce the number of young people coming into care and the number of young people experiencing harm.

When young people do need to enter care, an emphasis is placed on ensuring they are in placements that are right for them, are close to home and their school, and provide the best live chances.

The evaluation is a mixed-methods study focused on capturing the views and experiences of children, young people and their families supported by the NWD service.

The Research Fellow will take a key role in the arrangement of and carrying out interviews with children, young people and their families who have received support from the No Wrong Door service.

They will also lead focus groups with practitioners. The postholder will be expected to work closely with the study investigator to support day-to-day project delivery.

The post offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to an evaluation of a key service to prevent the need for out of home care services for children and young people.

Based at the University of Sussex, alongside Principal Investigator Professor Lisa Holmes they will bring:

- expertise in evaluation research
- expertise in qualitative analysis
- problem-solving and organisational skills
- capacity to work both independently and as part of a team
- writing for academic publication and conference presentation
- a range of communication and engagement activities with the wider professional and policy community

Please note, the role requires that you will have Enhanced Disclosures and Barring Service (DBS) clearance.
