Job Specification:


To provide care in partnership with Residents, with guidance and supervision from the Home Manager, Registered Nurses and senior Care Partners; and to undertake other duties to assist in the running of the home as required.

Essential:

Willingness to participate in vocational training.

Satisfactory PVG check


Desirable:

Previous experience of working in a care setting

Relevant Vocational Qualification (achieved or working towards)


  • Act as a key worker for a number of Residents. Ensuring that you greet any service users, for whom you are a key worker, on admission to the home and assist them to settle in.
  • Work with Residents in the provision of personal care including washing, bathing, dressing and toilet needs.
  • Respond promptly to Nurse Call System
  • Report any accidents or unexplained injuries immediately to the nurse in charge.
  • Ensure that Residents are presentable in appearance at all times.
  • Ensure that service users have any aids e.g. - Dentures, Hearing Aids, Spectacles etc fitted,cleaned and in working order.
  • Assist in the cleaning of the Home as the need arises, particularly dining areas after meals and comply with staff cleaning rotas.
  • Support infection control e.g. cleaning up spills immediately. Clean as you go.
  • Be respectful towards Resident's possessions and ensure that bedrooms and communal areas are tidy and presentable.
  • Work at all times, within the guidelines of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Employee Handbook and Company Health and Safety Policy and Procedure.
  • Be aware of all fire exit means of escape from the Home.
  • Ensure readiness to commence work at the time stated on the Duty Rota and not leave your place of work without permission from the Home Manager or Nurse-in-charge.
  • Adhere to the policy relating to personal appearance and the uniform policy whilst on duty.
  • Ensure that articles for laundry are sluiced if soiled before placing into correct container.
  • Read and implement the Company Policy and Procedure for Infection Control.
  • Ensure the appropriate segregation of waste material. That it is disposed of in accordance with current legislation and Company Policy and Procedure for Infection Control.
  • Report to the Nurse in Charge any changes in individual Resident's condition and any other relevant matter, noting especially any changes in skin condition.
  • Report to the Nurse in Charge any verbal concerns or complaints raised by the Resident or visitors.
  • Recognise your own limitations and seek guidance from the Home Manager or trained Nurse in charge as appropriate.
  • Respect the rights of the Residents, including privacy and dignity.
  • Assist in the serving and clearing of meals, snacks and drinks.
  • Assist Residents to eat and drink, monitoring intake and reporting any concerns to the Nurse in Charge.
  • Complete all food and fluid charts and any other daily monitoring records as requested.
  • Undertake any training necessary for the completion of your duties. To be aware of Mandatory training and dates to attend training.
  • Attend staff and other meetings as requested.
  • Undertake any other duties as and when required.
  • Abide by all company Policies and Procedures in accordance with the Staff Handbook and Policy and Procedure File.
  • Take an active part in promoting a "Life Worth Living" for the Residents by enabling them to join in organized activities and providing meaningful moments, with the assistance of all staff groups.
  • Report any concerns re possible abuse of service users immediately to the person in charge
  • Respect the confidentiality of the Residents and the home life at all times, including when you are using social networking systems
