An exciting job opportunity for administration support posts for our Winter Escalation Wards at County and Royal Stoke University Hospitals.

We are looking for motivated individuals to join our busy ward teams as Ward Clerks.

he post holder will be responsible for daily up keep of the Patient Administration System.

The post holder will provide administration services to the medical and nursing staff on the ward as well as providing reception cover.

The post holder will be expected to work on his or her own initiative in accordance with management requirements and will be responsible for the standard of their own work.

The nature of the work requires someone who is aware of patient confidentially, trustworthy and with the ability to deal professionally and effectively with all staff and the public.

We are a very busy wards and the post involves handling a significant number of patients case note folders.

All aspects of the work must be carried out in accordance with Trust Policies and Procedures in respect of maintaining patient confidentiality and Health & Safety.

The trust has around 1,450 inpatient beds across two sites in Stoke on Trent and Stafford. Our 11,000 strong workforce provide emergency treatment, planned operations and medical care at the Royal Stoke and County Hospital.

Key Areas/Tasks

  • To ensure that all patient IT systems are kept up to date.
  • Collecting, opening and distributing mail, daily.
  • Preparation of outgoing mail and photocopying
  • Providing a reception service for all patients/visitors and professional users attending the ward
  • Deal with telephone calls and verbal enquires.
  • Using the Medway system to acknowledge the receipt and sending out of patient case notes and ensuring patient data is kept up to date
  • Ensuring that relevant documents are filed in the correct order within the case notes.
  • Ordering stationery for the department and maintaining adequate levels of stock
