Job summary:


DE&S Deca is a specialist part of Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) tasked with supporting a vast range of Defence avionics, electronics and components to provide high-quality, cost effective support to the UK Armed Forces.

We have a rich heritage as the MOD's in house repair, maintenance, overhaul and upgrade service provider by offering innovative solutions to guarantee best value for Defence.


To ensure all auditable paperwork is accounted for in accordance with MoD guidelines as laid down in the Defence Logistics Framework (DLF) and actioning all Discrepancy Reports (DRs) making sure they are logged and actioned to a satisfactory outcome.


Being mindful of the scrutiny on Public Sector pay and in accordance with Civil Service Terms and Conditions, salary on appointment is normally at the minimum point of the salary range and this should therefore be the expectation.

Existing Civil Servants will be appointed in line with the normal Civil Service pay rules.


Job description:


Responsibilities of the role include the following:

  • Adhere to Health and Safety legislation and any internal Policy covering the same to ensure safe working.
  • Maintain the quality requirements as identified by the Business in relation to activities carried out.
  • Undertake mandatory training to enable continuation of duties.
  • Raise discrepancy reports for overdue incoming consignments using approved MoD paperwork and update the site register.
  • Liaise with external customers and units and carry out investigations using the appropriate supply databases to enable satisfactory closure of the discrepancy.
  • Maintain the MoD Forms F640 / F650 register with details of all customer receipts that involve payment by Defence Bills in Manchester.
  • Hasten all outstanding receipt and issue paperwork from external and internal customers.
  • Sign and return MoD paperwork to allow customers to claim payment for provided goods from Defence Bills.
  • File and maintain all supply chain auditable paperwork within stated timescales.
  • Management of customer orders, demand errors log and demand validation, including amending, cancelling and action sales orders requests.
  • Review outstanding sales orders and pass queries to appropriate DE&S Deca teams.

Person specification:


Essential Criteria:

  • Computer literate including working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Basic secondary education.
  • An ability to liaise with internal and external customers.
