About the role
Cambridgeshire are entering an exciting period in relation to the delivery of transport. We have a new strategy that is seeking to evolve and challenge the way our transport services are delivered.

We are working closely with providers and families to make sure our transport from home to school and our transport offer for vulnerable adults is the best it can be.


Transport is one of the key priorities for the Education Directorate, and there has been significant investment in the creation of a new service dedicated to delivering outstanding transport services.

It is the perfect time to join the new team as they embark on a new chapter.


The Transport Officer reports directly to the Passenger Transport Delivery Manager and is a key role in the delivery of our transport provision within the Passenger Transport Team.

What will you be doing?
The key aim of the role is to procure client transport in accordance with LA policies and legislation.

Working closely with our Children and Adults service departments, parent/carers, procurement and schools and establishments, to provide transport that is cost effective and meets the needs of the client.


This is a part time appointment of 0.6 FTE on a fixed term contract or a secondment opportunity for internal applicants.

It is a great opportunity to work in a busy and challenging Transport Officer Role within the Passenger Transport Team.

About you
You will be a highly diligent and organised, with a real passion for high quality service provision. You will have the ability to form relationships and make key links with a number of stakeholder groups.

Equally you may have an enquiring or inquisitive experience in a customer or provider environment and bring with you the benefit of that experience.

You may have a keen interest in transport delivery and transport operations.

Either way you will have excellent relational skills you will understand the importance of providing support to those around you to ensure delivery of a high-quality.

Interviews will take place on 22 May 2023 at New Shire Hall, Alconbury Weald PE28 4YE.
