Your new role
Southend City Council wish to appoint a temporary Enforcement Officer (
3 months with potential to extend) to join the Regulatory Services team.
This role is part of the council's response to address any major risk of external fire spread in high rise dwellings.
You will be required to draft, serve and monitor notices.You will be required to engage with the Government's Joint Inspection Team and building owners to verify the type of information required and quality and relevance of the information received.
Although you will liaise with a senior officer on this project, you will be expected to work with mínimal supervision and to report progress on a regular basis.
If enforcement on the notices is required, you will be expected to be the council's principal witness in any action.
What you need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience in assessing dwellings and conducting engagement at a technical level.
HHSRS and how this is used for assessing fire safety.
You should be experienced in the service of complex notices together with the analysis of any responses, in particular notices
under s235 of the
Housing Act 2004 although assistance will be sought in these notices from the JIT.
Previous experience of assessing fire safety / risk particularly within tower blocks / high rise buildings will be highly advantageous.
