Description
In collaborative research between Aston University and Kings College London, we are recruiting a Research Associate. The project is to develop a novel PEM fuel cell bipolar plate geometry design.

By employing cutting-edge techniques such as 3D printing and AI, the project aims to address the challenges of fuel cell technology in terms of longevity and efficiency.

The components of the project include the development of novel bipolar plate geometry design, material selection, additive manufacturing through 3D printing and experimental testing of the novel fuel cell.

Aston's task on this project is to develop a Digital Twin (DT) of fuel cell bipolar plate, particularly their maintenance, remanufacture and reuse.

It will first develop a digital twin framework, which includes designing the system concept of the DT, scoping the project, defining stakeholders, data requirements and data structure, and designing data sharing protocols.

The second part of this task is to develop a digital twin model of fuel cells to predict the remaining useful life (RUL), which includes data collection, data analytics and machine learning.

Lastly the task will consist of experimental testing of the bipolar plate to ascertain their mechanical properties.

The tasks on this post are expected to include (not limited to) bipolar plate geometry design, specification and requirements development, review, and evaluation of commercial bipolar plate in collaboration with partners, Data collection and analytics to predict the RUL of fuel cells.
