Test, diagnose and repair faults on electrical installations, plant and equipment, to deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others.


Have a large understanding of electrical systems including, nurse calls, fire alarm systems, lighting and general electrical systems to enable diagnostic work and repairs to be completed.

Work alongside the in house maintenance team along with working on their own initiative with minimum supervision.

There is an expectation for all staff to take an active approach towards training and development of themselves and other members of the team.


The Nottingham University Hospitals Trust is a large acute hospital spread across 3 sites in the City delivering excellent care to the local residents.

The in house maintenance team is made of a workforce comprising of 60 tradesmen from different disciplines providing on-site service 24 7 to the Trust ensuring that patient care is delivered safely and without interruption.


The current team is well experienced with a large amount of knowledge that strive to provide the best standards of service, this in turn has created a good sense of team work with patient care being at the core of our working principles.


This vacancy would suit a qualified professional person who feels they can bring something extra to the team and enhance the service we provide.

Test, diagnose and repair faults on engineering electrical installations, plant and equipment, to deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others.

Understand the working of electrical systems within NHS buildings.

Instruct others on the above features and other aspects of his/her work.

Perform a wide range of work of other crafts.

Manufacture, assemble, erect and install new work.

Carry out repairs, maintain and efficiently run plant and equipment.

Use all relevant tools and equipment.


To participate in/learn new procedures, new technology, in order to improve methods of works so increasing Department efficiency and utilisation.


Perform PPM maintenance on these systems along with any other duties delegated to them by the Team Leaders that are within their capabilities.
