Our client in Warwickshire is seeking a Benefits Team Leader for an initial period of 4 months. The role is a mix of home and office based, with a minimum of 2 days per week on-site.


Advanced knowledge of Civia Open Revenues is desirable and a minimum of 2 year's experience working as a Benefits Team Leader or Senior Benefits Officer is essential.


Tasks will include:

  • Assess complex claims for Housing Benefit & Council Tax Support
  • To be the operational lead for the administration and payment of claims for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction
  • To deliver a service that meets the needs of clients and safeguards public funds
  • To ensure that all decisions are made in accordance with legislation, local policies and procedures
  • To ensure that all statutory returns are completed on time and in accordance with requirements
  • Referring claims of suspected irregularity to the Single Fraud Investigation Service and responding to requests for information / evidence and queries from the SFIS and implementing investigation outcome decisions
  • Work with the Single Fraud Investigation Service / Crown Prosecution Service to provide witness statements to support prosecution cases
  • Work with the Single Fraud Investigation Service / Crown Prosecution Service to exhibit documents to support prosecution cases
  • To undertake the annual recalculation of benefits claims as part of the annual billing process
  • To reconsider and prepare cases for Tribunal and Courts preparing case submissions and representing the Council at associated hearings
  • To prepare the initial, midyear and final Housing Benefit Subsidy claims and associated returns
  • To work with external auditors to complete the audit work in support of the Housing Benefit Subsidy audit, from initial case selection to sign off of the claim by the Department for Work and Pensions
  • To be the operational lead for the administration of the Discretionary Housing Payment scheme
  • To be the operational lead on the administration of other local schemes that may be created locally or nationally
  • To deliver a service that meets the needs of clients and safeguards public funds
  • To ensure that all decisions are made in accordance with legislation, local policies and procedures
  • To consider requests for review of Discretionary Financial Support scheme decisions

Requirements:


  • 5 years Benefits experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Civia Open Revenues
  • A minimum 2 year's experience as a Benefits Team Leader or Senior Benefits Officer

Job Types:

Salary:
£26.86 per hour
