You will support the specialist work of the department and take on the post of Linen Services Assistant at Lancashire teaching Hospital.

Don't just take our word for it, have a chat with Samantha Brown our Linen Services Supervisor. Linen Services' experience is desirable though this is not essential, as full training will be given.

To provide an efficient and comprehensive Linen service to all wards and departments. Your role will ensue that clean linen is counted, packed and distributed to our hospitals' wards.

You will also act at all times in a manner that upholds the Trust's values, working as part of a team to ensure efficiency and excellent customer care.


This is a challenging but rewarding job role and there's no doubt that you will need to be a motivated, enthusiastic team player, who is willing to work hard within a strong team, to provide a KEY service within the hospital for both staff and patients.

  • To check and accurately record that all incoming linen corresponds with the contractors delivery notes and quality standards are being maintained as specified by the contract.
  • Notify the Linen Services Supervisor/Manager/ Contractor of discrepancies and articles for return as necessary as per departmental procedures.
  • To sub sort the linen according to end user
requirements and load it onto trolleys/cages or bags for delivery. Recording accurately both written and electronically quantities for recovery of expenditure.

  • Communicate verbally with the Linen services
Supervisor and colleagues by phone and through written procedures ensuring an effective exchange of information about service needs

  • Communicate with an range of clinical and

- clinical staff to understand service needs

  • Liasing/visiting daily with each ward/department to assess their linen requirements adjusting quotas/stocks when necessary and preventing the abuse of linen stocks and breaches of security.
  • Daily delivery of linen in a timely and customer
focused manner including unpacking and shelving items

  • Assist in the monitoring and audit process of
standards of linen through sampling, surveying, linen stock counts and discussions in a through and accurate manner

  • Assisting in the provision of a uniform service to members of staff, measuring and delivering were necessary.
  • Proactively support the continued improvement of linen services
  • Maintain and develop own competence for the linen services assistant role.
