Job description:


We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Team Leaders, with good communication skills, who will work collaboratively with others, manage and take ownership of performance and ensure quality across their own teams.

You will adopt a positive approach to keeping your team's efforts focussed on the top priorities and on our Operations ambitions whilst mentoring and supporting your team members in an inclusive manner to help them develop and achieve their potential.

You will be detail-focussed and enjoy the challenge of working at pace with a good level of personal responsibility.


Reporting directly to the Casework Area Lead you will lead your own casework team which includes managing resources, promoting, and facilitating flexible and efficient working to ensure we meet agreed operational performance and quality standards.

Through the analysis of reports, you will manage business area performance to ensure the smooth running of appeals/enforcements. Alongside managing and supporting your team members, you will build and oversee sustainable programmes of work for a range of Inspectors

Essential Criteria

  • Ability to manage teams confidently and proactively, inspiring and motivating them to be engaged in their role/s.
  • Ability and confidence to engage in difficult conversations whilst maintaining a positive approach
  • Understanding of appeals casework and the work of the Planning Inspectorate.
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of staff and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure to exacting timescales
  • Computer literate, including working knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel and the ability to learn other systems required in the role.
  • Good analytical skills
  • Willingness to work flexibly across Operations in support of the Operations Directorate goals and priorities.
