XEIAD are a part of the BES Group and are the largest provider of civil infrastructure inspections in the UK.


Specialising in difficult access, our teams have extensive experience inspecting structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, tunnels, and shafts across industry sectors such as Rail, Highways, Marine, Utilities and Defence.


We pride ourselves on supporting the end to end management of a range of civil engineering assets, helping asset owners and managers keep critical infrastructure safe, reduce risk and maintenance costs as well as extend asset life.


We are currently engaged in the delivery of numerous projects throughout the UK for and on behalf of many asset owners, managers and a large diversity of engineering consultancies including Network Rail, National Highways, Balfour Beatty, Kier and Atkins to name just a few.


What will I be doing?


This role will support the delivery of structural examinations contract
(SREC) in the Rail environment by supervising enabling works (such as de-vegetation and other minor works) as directed by the Enabling Works Co-Ordinator primarily working in the Southern Area
- Wessex, Sussex & Kent.


Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • To supervise a variety of enabling works, reconnaissance and works delivery including (but not limited to) chainsaw works, brush cutting, hedge trimming, clearing debris from bridge bearings, removal of advertisement hoardings, de-watering of culverts, CCTV, brickwork removal/reinstatement, fence removal/re-instatement in accordance with company values
  • To gain access permissions from landowners (during reconnaissance visits)
  • Produce reconnaissance reports to assist the planning team.
  • To capture site condition pre and post work in a factual reportdriven manner
  • To lead / promote and record close calls as identified and report through appropriate systems
  • To put safety and wellbeing at the forefront of every task every time
  • To work to specification / documentation in accordance with lifesaving rules and appropriate policies & procedures
  • To lead and direct operative(s), clients and subcontractor as appropriate on site
  • To promote safe working practices, setting the example for others to follow
  • To behave in an inclusive manner at all times
  • To undertake work in an environmentally conscious way
  • To work closely with the Planning Team to ensure that all SSOW documentation, track access and safety critical resource requirements are in place to deliver the program safely.
  • To make arrangements for all nonrail access, plant and equipment necessary to undertake the enabling works.
