Overall Job Purpose:

To provide evidence based weight management interventions to children and their families/carers Duties and Responsibilities of the Post: Clinical Professional and/or Technical Responsibilities To provide Nutrition and Dietetic services to children, referred by healthcare professionals, for advice and support regarding overweight/obesity To be clinically competent to provide specialist weight management advice, treatment and dietary counselling to children and their families/carers.

To play an active role in the delivery of various weight management interventions for children and their families/carers including clinics and group programmes.

To work as an autonomous practitioner within appropriate clinical and professional guidelines and as part of a team. To contribute to the development of dietetic resources for children and families/carers.


To record data for the purpose of evaluation and audit to show the effectiveness of dietetic treatment in childhood obesity.

To further develop childhood weight management services within Sunderland. To support junior staff and take an active part in the training of Trainee Dietitians. To identify personal training needs undertaking relevant CPD opportunities to develop new and to maintain and update existing skills.
