Based in Harwell, UK, Moderna is expanding its new manufacturing and expansions department, supporting our new site startup and continued manufacturing activities.

We are inviting professionals to join us in this vital phase of growth, contributing to our mission of delivering innovative mRNA therapeutics.

Moderna is seeking a Drug Substance MS&T Lead to join our team in Harwell, UK.

This newly created role involves leading a team of scientists and engineers in technology transfer, process startup, drug substance manufacturing process validations, and commercial cGMP manufacturing support.


Here's What You'll Do:

Within 3 Months, You Will

Ensure successful technology transfer of Moderna processes into manufacturing operations and establish a robust documentation package.

Begin acting as the point of contact for manufacturing issues requiring technical investigations and coordinate resolutions.

Within 6 Months, You Will

Ensure successful validation of Moderna manufacturing processes at the Harwell site.

Start managing change as part of a Global Change Control forum and maintain alignment with other global manufacturing sites.


Within 12 Months, You Will:

Lead a diverse group of scientists and engineers, establishing common practices and a data-driven culture, utilizing metrics for improvements.

Actively participate in health authorities' audits and contribute to the continual improvement of our manufacturing processes.


Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:
M.S. or Ph.
D. in a technical discipline related to Pharmaceutical Manufacturing (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, etc.)

A minimum of 10 years of related work experience.

Prior managerial experience. Ability to mentor staff in technical areas outside your area of expertise.

Direct experience providing technical support of cGMP manufacturing operations in biologics manufacturing or parenteral drug product manufacturing. Experience includes technology transfer, investigations, and change management.

Experience using statistical process control and process analytics for monitoring and improving control of processes.

Demonstrated capability of working cross-functionally in a technical area outside of core expertise.

Experience supporting commercial cGMP manufacturing processes preferred.
