This is a unique opportunity to work within the Outpatients Department within Ambulatory Care.

You will be based at the Queens Medical Hospital Campus but may be required to work on both Campuses (City/QMC).


We are looking for a dedicated, patient focused and Registered Nursing Associate who is committed to providing the highest standards of nursing care for our patients.

You will work closely with all members of the nursing team including, Nurse Consultants, Registered Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and other Allied Health Professionals, contributing to the development of a highly skilled workforce and multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

The taking and recording patients' temperature, pulse, and blood pressure. Also patients height, weight and Body Mass Index. Ensure that patients are helped to retain and maintain their dignity and individuality. Participate in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients as required. Direct and escort patients and visitors around the clinic/ward and to other departments. Be aware of the need for confidentiality both in the written and spoken word.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities


The post holder will support the Registered Nurse in ensuring the delivery of high quality patient/client care upholding dignity, delivered with kindness and compassion.

Carry out nursing procedures following verification of competency and assist with the care and treatment of patients.


This may include:

assisting with and meeting the comfort and hygiene needs of patients, escorting patients to and from the toilet, dealing with dirty linen in accordance with Infection Prevention and Control Polices.

Actively contribute to an effective learning environment and support others in their learning.

Qualification and training

Essential criteria

  • Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register
  • Educated to a minimum level 5 Foundation degree level specific to Nursing Associate Practice
Desirable criteria

  • Has or willing to undertake supervisor training
  • Demonstrate involvement in link, nurse, or project work
Experience

Essential criteria

  • Undertake the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in the context of the team and the organisation, and how the role contributes to service development
  • Experience (through placement or employment) of working in an acute clinical environment
Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working within an Outpatient environment
  • Evidence of ability to mentor, Demonstrate an involvement in link nurse, or project work
Communication and relationships skills

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate basic IT skills.
  • Recognition of own level of competence and limitations and able to communicate these to appropriate staff
Analytical and Judgement skills

  • Ability to identify own learning needs
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Nursing Associate role.
  • Understands and acts in line with the NMC Professional Standards for Practice contained within the code.
