Surface Transport's Network Management Control Centre (NMCC) helps to 'Keep London Moving' by supporting and managing the movement of people and goods on the road, Tunnel and Bus network.

We want our streets to be safe for everyone to use, pleasant places to live, work and move about efficiently.

We are a 24/7 operation that is responsible for running Surface Transport services across the capital.

Services are broad and dynamic and include monitoring the network, manging incidents, bus routes and bus disruptions, making sure our tunnels are safe and operating effectively and supplying real time network information to our customers and partners.

We are at our best when we come together in response to an incident or delivering iconic events like RideLondon and the London Marathon.

The Role

This is an exciting new role that reports to our Systems Manager to support our critical roles to deliver and keep London moving.

This role will enable you to work in a dynamic and exciting environment and get exposure to a 24/7 control room function.

The role is primarily office based during weekday core hours, with some opportunities to work from home. There will be a requirement for infrequent ad-hoc attendance during unsocial hours to support control centre operations.


You will be responsible for:
-


  • Working as part of a team supporting 24/7 control centre operations with realtime, firstline IT support. Troubleshooting issues, and recognising when escalation is required and working with the relevant teams to resolve the issue in a timely manner.
  • Developing an indepth understanding of control centre systems, becoming an SME and being able to provide coaching, advice and technical support to colleagues for businesscritical systems.
  • Create, maintain, and develop documentation to support control centre operations, ensuring they are timely and accurate.
  • You will be accountable for your own portfolio of system projects which will include the development of existing systems, replacing end of life systems (including user acceptance testing), supporting the readiness of systems/equipment across our sites and ensuring these projects are delivered on time and budget.
  • Stakeholder Management, working with colleagues across the business to support the needs of NMCC, embracing constructive feedback of performance into the monthly Tech & Data Service Reviews
  • Work closely with the NMCC systems Manager, developing your skills and knowledge to represent the NMCC in meetings, discussions, workshops and formal presentations with service providers, stakeholders and 3rd parties.
  • You will contribute to the success of the Palestra Events Liaison Facility, supporting its readiness to stand up at short notice for unplanned events/incidents and supporting activity for large scale planned events.
  • Support the Digital Workplace, championing Learning Paths and smart working

Key Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Experience of reacting and responding to Incidents appropriately working calmly under pressure
  • Exceptional problemsolving and communication skills
  • Ability to prepare and present Information management reports, presentations, and technical findings
  • Experience of stakeholder engagement and managing resources
  • Project management experience demonstrating the ability to multitask
  • Experience of maintaining relationships with team members, customers, and key stakeholders both internal and external
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of MS Office 365 and the ability to learn MS Power BI
