Full or Part-time (Term Time Only + 3 weeks)

NJC Grade 5, (SCP 7-11)

£20,201 - £22,212 (based on a 37 hour week)

Friday 9 December at noon




THE POST:
FINANCE ASSISTANT

The Fallibroome Academy is a successful 11-18 mixed comprehensive school on the edge of Macclesfield.

We are looking for a Finance Assistant to join our team who provide excellent financial support at both academy and trust level.

You should have experience of working in a busy finance department, ideally in an educational or similar organisation. Applicants must possess excellent, clear and influential communications skills and have high levels of competency in Mathematics, English and
ICT.

The Fallibroome Academy is a highly successful school and contributory to its success is a very dedicated and busy support team, of which this post is part.


Applicants must be able to demonstrate a good record of attendance and punctuality in previous employment and be of smart personal appearance.

You must be willing to undertake additional training as required to support your own professional development.


THE FALLIBROOME ACADEMY - JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:
Finance Assistant


Responsible To:
Finance Manager Grade: 5 (SCP 7-11)


BASIC JOB PURPOSE
To assist the Finance Team with a range finance related duties including school transport administration, whilst contributing to the overall ethos, work and aims of the school


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Set up new suppliers on the finance system, ensuring they comply with Trust

1 requirements and following up any outstanding information needed.

Assist with procurement processes, requesting and collating relevant information to

2 maximise value for money


3 C reate and process requisitions and purchase orders

Check and process purchase invoices, ensuring accurate records are kept and

4 approvals are in line with financial procedures

Prepare BACS payment runs for approval and process the transactions, including

5 s ending electronic remittance advices. Correctly record bank transactions in the finance system.

Set up new customers and raise sales invoices as required. Chase outstanding

Carry out bank, cash, credit card and journal account reconciliations under

7 guidance from the Finance Manager

All aspects of student transport, including liaising with parents, the school bus

8 driver and the collection of payment

Run routine financial reports from the finance system and update a range of

9 supporting records, usually in spreadsheet format.


10 A ssist with internal and external audit processes

Ensure all duties and responsibilities are undertaken in line with the school's

Health and Safety policy


12 T o actively promote the safeguarding and welfare of pupils at all times

Keep records in accordance with the school's record retention schedule and data

13 protection law, ensuring information security and confidentiality at all times

Notwithstanding the detail in this job description, the job holder will undertake such

14 w ork as may be determined by the senior leadership from time to time, up to or at a level consistent with the main responsibilities of the job.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

QUALIFICATIONS ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE
Educated to at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and

mathematics

AAT level 3 or equivalent


EXPERIENCE
Experience of working in a busy finance department

Experience of working in an educational establishment

Experience of working as part of a team

Experience of using of a computerised finance system


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Ability to build and form very good relationships with colleagues,
other professionals and students/parents/carers

Very good communication skills, both verbal and written

Ability to work independently, to manage own workload and use
initiative but also able to work constructively as part of a team

Very good literacy and numeracy skills

Ability to use ICT packages and equipment effectively

Awareness of Data Protection and GDPR legislation

Ability and a commitment to work flexibly and to respond to
unplanned situations


PERSONAL QUALITIES
Ability to deal confidentially, impartially and appropriately with
situations

Good interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with
individuals, adults and students
