We are recruiting for a passionate External Communications Officer to join our team This is an exciting role within the External Communications function to work with the team to help grow and protect Kingfisher's reputation.

The team is responsible for all aspects of Kingfisher's external communications, from corporate, financial and issues management to the Kingfisher corporate website and its growing social media channels.

You will work across the department, primarily focusing on creating and publishing compelling content for corporate, digital/online and social communications.

This content will leverage Kingfisher's own news about progress on its Powered by Kingfisher strategy, as well as the news of our retail banners in the UK (B&Q, Screwfix), France (Castorama, Brico Dépôt), Poland), Spain and Romania.


What's the job?:

  • Create and publish engaging content via Kingfisher's digital communications channels, such as the company's website and social media channels.
  • Be curious, proactively collaborating across the business gathering updates and news stories, aligning them to the overall communications strategy.
  • Maintain a rolling communications activity calendar that produces a regular drumbeat of news and announcements.
  • Support the team in communication projects such as campaigns, website developments, social media content, media events, speeches, crisis work and financial results
  • Oversee Kingfisher website and support with the management of its continual development.
  • Through press monitoring and research, identify opportunities and provide competitor awareness/insight to support communications planning across our channels.
  • General Administration including processing of invoices and maintenance of budget tracker
  • Arrange internal, agency and communications network meetings and maintain accurate records of actions.

What you'll bring:
- experience of working within a corporate and/or consumer communications role gained either at an agency or in-house.

  • Experience of creating written and multimedia communications with adaptable style, approaches and messaging for relevant audiences, e.g., vlogs, podcasts, website content, social media content, videos, quotes, press releases, blogs.
  • Highly computerliterate in basic MS Office software e.g. Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • A collaborative approach to working with others, with the ability to foster good working relationships with peers and senior management.
  • Confident representing the business in the external world e.g. networking, events, conferences and meetings as appropriate.
  • Good time management and ability to work on multiple projects
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and adaptability and be able to operate across different business cultures.
