The borough of Calderdale is situated in West Yorkshire and is nestled in the South Pennines. It is an area of rich cultural heritage, impressive architecture, stunning landscapes and charming towns and villages.

With excellent road and rail links, and being within easy reach of Leeds and Manchester, Calderdale is a great place to live, work, and visit.

Calderdale has a vision for 2024 as a place where you can realise your potential whoever you are.

Calderdale Council has relatively recently completed a fundamental cross-council review of enforcement and is proceeding to implement a holistic problem-solving approach based on engagement, education, and enforcement in order to deliver better outcomes for communities.

Under the guidance of a single Service Lead, this new approach has brought together many of the Council services that include enforcement as part of their statutory and non-statutory duties.

You will be responsible for day-to-day delivery of Calderdale Council's Environmental Health functions, working alongside a team of professional and technical staff.

As part of the wider Community Protection Team, you will be working alongside officers who have responsibility for other elements of the new enforcement approach.

You will therefore help to provide resilience and inter-operability across several regulatory activities.

It is critical that the successful applicant will be able to show an aptitude for this type of work and ideally have a high level of competence and experience in Environmental Health duties.

Close working with statutory, voluntary, and community sector partners is seen as a must for this role.

This is a great opportunity for a motivated and forward-thinking individual who thrives in working as part of a team environment, and who is committed to driving the service forward in challenging times.

If you are looking for unique opportunities to gain further experience and knowledge in Environmental Health as well as the wider enforcement agenda such as Animal Health & Welfare, Pollution, Licensing, Anti-social Behaviour and Community Safety, then you are looking in the right place.
