What is a Drivers Mate?
Do you enjoy being out & about? Meeting new people in your local community? Then this could be the role for you


This vital role involves helping our drivers in organising & collecting all donated items of furniture, ensuring are shops remain well stocked & customers receive their deliveries in a professional manner.

Experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

What's involved?

  • Loading & unloading the van, working within moving & handling guidelines
  • Supporting our drivers with collecting donations & making deliveries of furniture & stock, which at times can be physically demanding.
  • Working with the warehouse team to coordinate deliveries & collections
  • Assisting with calls to customers awaiting deliveries and collections
  • Having an awareness of the services that Derian House offers to our Children, Young People and their families so you can answer any questions customers may ask about the hospice
  • Help to recruit new volunteers to Derian by making friends & families aware of our opportunities

This role will suit people whoare friendly & helpful, have good customer service skills, a positive can do attitude & enjoy working on their own initiative or as part of team. We really value honesty, integrity & reliability in our volunteers & staff & in return we will do our best to provide you with a rewarding volunteer experience.


Time commitment:


Minimum:
One day per week (Monday to Friday), 9am to 4pm


Training:

Full site induction & mandatory annual training will be provided.


Expenses:

Lunch allowance for shifts 6.5hrs plus


Age Restrictions:

Volunteers must be aged 16yrs plus
