The opportunity


We are looking for an organised and passionate Marketing Assistant to support the Comms Director and our busy Marketing team, working across Penguin Michael Joseph's books.

This is a brilliant first step into marketing and the publishing industry and is a permanent position.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a range of administrative processes to help the smoothrunning of the Marketing team and campaigns, including finance administration such as raising purchase orders, paying invoices, and reconciling budgets
  • Providing administrative support to the Comms Director, such as diary and schedule management, preparing reports and agendas, taking minutes and collating visuals / materials
  • Acting as a point of contact for the team, fielding phone calls and answering queries
  • Submitting materials for new books (e.g. jackets, proof copies) to booksellers and reviewers
  • Supporting on campaign activity, including the creation of creative assets: from engaging online content to pointofsale
  • Building relationships with key contacts in all other departments across the company (including Sales, Publicity, Production and Editorial)

What you'll bring


You don't need publishing or marketing experience - we are looking for someone enthusiastic, curious and passionate about connecting readers with our best-sellers.


You'll have:

  • Strong interpersonal and teamworking skills
  • Excellent organisation and the ability to prioritise competing demands
  • Time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • An interest in pursuing new marketing opportunities and new ways of reaching readers, staying on top of wider book trends
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

Our hybrid working approach


PRH is currently experimenting with hybrid working and involving colleagues across the business to shape our future ways of working.

This role is based in London and we'll expect you to work 2 days a week from our Nine Elms office.

The exact balance of office to remote working will depend on the nature of your role and team needs, and we are open to discussing this through the recruitment process.

Salary:
You'll start on £26,500. Expect a £1,000 increase on your first anniversary in this role to reflect your growing contribution.
