Description
To line manage and supervise the PMHW team, ensuring quality and patient safety is paramount to service provision.

To work with the service manager to ensure financial efficiency and effective use of resources available.

To hold a clinical case load providing direct care to the client group.

To contribute to the development of provision at the interface of child and adolescent mental health services and primary care services and liaising with other agencies across the boroughs within Northumberland


To increase the awareness of the needs of this client group at primary care level through the sharing of clinical knowledge and expertise using a model of consultation/liaison/teaching and training/research and development with primary care colleagues.


To support primary care colleagues in their clinical work with adolescents where they are considering making a referral into the specialist CAMH service for further mental health assessment.

To assess current services available for families in Northumberland


To identify any gaps in service provision and to help to develop services to meet the needs of this client group.


To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust.

This means
demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and

empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.

To oversee the day to day management of the service.

To ensure that staff are supported to comply with the the clinical systems and process.

To provide senior clinician support with clinical decision making in referrals, consultations, triage assessment formulation meetings.

To support with staff development, appraisals, performance management and HR processes.

To chair team meetings, working groups, service development plans

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state of the art Northumbria Specialist Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England

Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust currently has a vacancy for 2 Band 7 Primary Mental Health Work positions.

These posts have become available due to the increased investment from Northumberland ICB to develop early intervention children's mental health provision across the County.


The posts will provide a locality leadership and management role within the County wide Primary Mental Health work Service and to provide support within our trailblazer areas, building on new models of delivery though the Be You Mental Health Teams in schools.

The role will also involve leading on the maintenance of expected wait time standards across the County.

This has created opportunities to strengthen the core offers of the Primary Mental Health Work Service to provide a broader reach of targeted supported.

This will support those children and young people with moderate mental health needs, within the 'getting help sector 'of the Thrive model of delivery
