Mental Health Teaching Assistant - Social & Emotional Mental Health & Special Educational Needs - Full Time 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, term time only. Temp to Perm (12 weeks). £75 per day.


We are seeking a confident and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team on a term time only basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with social and emotional mental health needs and helping them to overcome challenging behaviour.


As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with teachers and other members of the support staff to deliver tailored support to young people with a range of SEMH needs.

You will be responsible for helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment, and for assisting with the delivery of lessons and activities that are designed to meet the individual needs of each student.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing onetoone support to young people with SEMH needs
  • Assisting with the delivery of lessons and activities
  • Supporting young people with their needs
  • Encouraging young people to participate in social and leisure activities
  • Helping young people to build their confidence and selfesteem
  • Dealing with challenging behaviour in a calm and effective manner
  • Keeping accurate records of young people's progress and feeding this information back to teachers and other members of the support staff

Requirements:


  • Experience of working with young people with SEMH/SEND needs, including those with challenging behaviour
  • A strong commitment to inclusive education and a desire to help young people overcome their challenges
  • Confidence and resilience to work with very challenging young people
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
