Background


Catering and Retail Services (CRS) provides refreshments and catering for Members, their guests, and staff as well as an extensive private banqueting function service and a retail section selling gifts and souvenirs.

There are several outlets offering formal dining, bars and cafeteria style facilities including a busy banqueting operation which delivers over 900 events per annum catering for over 70,000 guests.


Main Objective


To ensure that a high standard of customer service and presentation is always offered through the provision of food and beverages for Peers, their guests, and Staff of the House.

You will maximise sales and profitability and achieve targets through your prompt and efficient service. Have flexibility about working hours, variable shifts and hours will be required.

The post holder would need to exercise tact, diplomacy, and discretion, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

You should also expect to undertake other reasonable duties in alternative outlets, dependant on the needs of the department.


Essential

  • Knowledge of a wide variety of hot, cold, alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages.
  • Experience of working in a similar hospitality environment.
  • Have good organisational skills.
  • A high level of initiative, with the ability to make necessary decisions when required or in the absence of a manager.
  • Be able to work well as part of a flexible team in a pressurised environment, with limited supervision.
  • The ability to deliver exemplary standards of customer care, including a welcoming and helpful approach when dealing with customers.

The qualifications required for the post are:

  • Basic Health and Safety & Food safety.
