A brand and new opportunity for a Contracts Executive has just become available at a leading and well recognised publishing company based in Central London.

A Contracts Executive is responsible for reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts for authorand contributor agreements.

This is a fantastic role for someone who has experience in the Legal, Contracts or Rights Department of a company and has a keen interest in drafting.

If you have background experience within a publishing or entertainment companyor a law firm and looking to take an exciting and creative step forward, this is the perfect role for you

Reviewing, drafting and where appropriate, negotiating:

  • for the

Commissioning Editors:
author and contributor contracts and addenda; reversion letters; and termination letters

  • for the

Sales Department:
sales and distribution agreements with third parties

  • Assisting the Contracts Manager
  • Drafting terms and conditions for competitions and social media giveaways
  • Assisting with online piracy and copyright infringements
  • Supporting the Permissions Department and providing advice when required
  • Advising and answering queries from the Contracts Assistant

Experience needed:

  • Extensive experience in the Legal, Contracts or Rights Department
  • Solid knowledge of contracts, copyright and royalty structures
  • Detailed understanding of coedition publishing
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel, and database systems
  • Selfmotivated and organised with the ability to prioritise workload effectively and multitask under pressure
  • Excellent command of English spelling and grammar, and a meticulous eye for detail
