Tutor - Felting
16 hours per week, 37 weeks per annum (1st September 2023 start)

Freeman College, based in Sheffield City Centre is an independent specialist college and part of the Ruskin Mill Trust, educating young people aged 16-25 years old.
We are seeking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic and professional tutor to work as part of our college crafts team.
The role will include teaching students to work predominantly with wet felting and needle felting and encouraging them to create artefacts that are both aesthetically pleasing and have practical use.
Examples of work to include table mats, hangings, phone covers, hats and slippers.
Applicants must have experience of -working with learners with learning difficulties and/ or learning disabilities and have experience of teaching / training in felting.
- Create simple felt work using wet and dry techniques
- Design and fabricate 3dimensional felted objects that are practical and useful
- Be able to create a pair of felted slippers
- Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to complete appropriate paperwork within agreed timescales.
You must be able to instil enthusiasm and enjoyment into the learning process in such a way that can lead to increased self-esteem and enhanced engagement in learning for our students.
Successful applicants will be expected to complete our Pedagogical Potential of Craft Course and spend time at other Ruskin Mill provisions with other Felting Tutors to ensure a full understanding of our method.
