About the Role:
Lakenheath Surgery is hiring a receptionist to join our practice team.
This role is offered on a part-time basis, for 16.5 hours a week over Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, with actual sessions to be agreed.
Main duties of the role include:
- Ensuring that enquiries from patients are efficiently and courteously handled whilst maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
- Opening of surgery premises, checking heating and ventilation.
- Scanning in clinical letters.
- Booking appointments for patients within the clinical computer system (SystmOne).
- Filing and extracting records.
- Distributing patient records to the doctors for their surgeries when required.
- Receiving post and distributing accordingly.
- Receiving and directing patients on arrival.
- Answering general enquiries, explaining surgery procedures and making followup appointments for patients and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional.
- Receiving and recording requests for home visits.
- Updating patient records with results and appointments.
- Receiving messages for all staff.
- Ensuring that an adequate supply of stationery is available in the consulting rooms and reception area.
- Maintaining practice telephone directory.
- Ventilating and tidying waiting room after surgery.
- Ensuring that the reception area is left tidy and ready for use by incoming colleagues, and that information, unresolved or urgent, is passed on.
- Undertaking clerical duties as delegated by the partners/practice manager.
- Cover for additional hours will sometimes be required.
All applicants should have:
- Good communication skills.
- Good computer and keyboard skills.
- Flexibility to work additional hours between 8.00 am pm to provide holiday/sickness cover, when required.
- An ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
About Us:
We have a well-equipped, purpose-built surgery in Lakenheath.
Our team consists of three GPs, two practice nurses, a healthcare assistant, four dispensers, five receptionists, a secretary and a practice manager.
We work closely with the district nursing team, the health visitors and the midwife.We offer 4 weeks' of annual leave, plus bank holidays, pro rata.
