Duties of the Role:


  • Working closely with site management to ascertain and act upon their requirements in terms of material and plant needs that ensure both programme and cost targets are met.
  • Negotiate new and existing contracts with suppliers in areas of both materials and plant to obtain competitive deals, payment terms, and rebates.
  • Processing and clearing plant invoices for payment with Accounts, including resolving invoice disputes. This involves plant management for loss/stolen/damaged plant & buy backs.
  • Processing material invoice queries; request suitable credit notes where required and chase outstanding matters relating to them.
  • Work closely with Estimators and Design Managers on Tender and Live projects in sourcing both specified materials and viable alternative options for consideration within the tender/scheme.
  • Assist with other departments such as Surveying with enquiries and cost comparisons for 'supply only v's supply and install' in seeking potential cost savings.

Key Skills & Experience Required:


  • Minimum two years' experience working within a Buyer role.
  • Good understanding and ability with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to work within allocated time scales to meet the requirements of our clients.
  • Good punctuality, proactive approach, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Preferably have a good knowledge of our client base and industry.
  • Good planning skills, time management skills and commercial knowledge.
  • Ability to work well within a team to achieve targets.
  • Qualifications to an HNC/HND level preferred but not essential.
  • Full UK driving licence.
