Evaluation and Learning Lead


We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Evaluation and Learning Lead to join the Evaluation, Learning and Insights Team, in this remote working role.


We are looking for someone proactive, creative, tenacious and empathetic, with significant experience and expertise in the MERL sector; the ability to build relationships to create engagement and drive-up quality in monitoring and evaluation activity; and a willingness to work with the 'art of the possible' in evaluation within a complex environment.

Hours:
Full Time. 35 hours per week with flexible working available

The Role


As Evaluation and Learning Lead, you will work collaboratively with colleagues from across the organisation, and the Head of Evaluation, Learning and Insights, to identify, develop, commission and deliver learning and evaluation activity to support strategy and operations.


A key part of your role will be building relationships with the membership of 240 NHS charities to embed a culture of monitoring, evaluation and learning, and empower charities to undertake relevant activity.

The team have begun the development of a formal, tiered 'Funder Plus Support' offer for members, which you will be required to take this forward.


With an excellent understanding of ethics, as well as equity and intersectionality (Kimberle Crenshaw, 1989), the Evaluation and Lead Learning will drive forward the research ethics & excellence framework - including the equality impact assessment for research activities.


This role will play a significant part in shaping the future of the charity, and helping care for NHS staff, patients, and volunteers.


About You

You will need to:

  • Have an excellent understanding of ethics, as well as equity and intersectionality (Kimberle Crenshaw, 1989).
  • Be experienced in developing Invitation to Tenders, commissioning external evaluation consultants, and managing this relationship.
  • Be experienced in directly delivering evaluation, including designing Theory of Change, evaluation frameworks, and qualitative and quantitative research techniques and analysis primarily using Excel.
  • Be a good written and verbal communicator, with experience of reporting and presenting to a range of audiences, including senior leaders.
  • Be able to design and deliver capacity & capability building activity including producing resources related to M&E, considering the diversity of the membership.
  • Experienced in codesign and participatory methods.
  • Have an understanding of the development of a business case and Equality Impact Assessments.
