Estate Gardener Trainee/assistant - Armathwaite, United Kingdom - PPM Ltd
Description
Responsibilities:
- Assist our current Estate Gardener in the cultivation and maintenance of crops, plants, and flowers.
- Participate in all stages of the growing process, including planting, watering, fertilising, weeding, and harvesting.
- Help ensure the health and vitality of plants through pest control, disease management, and proper nutrition.
- Support in the preparation of planting beds, greenhouse maintenance, and equipment upkeep.
- Assist in the propagation of plants through various methods such as seeding, grafting, and cloning.

- Passion for horticulture: Demonstrated interest and enthusiasm for plants, and sustainable agricultural practices.
- Strong work ethic: Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Attention to detail: Ability to follow instructions precisely and execute tasks accurately.
- Team player: Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to work on various tasks simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
- Initiative: Selfmotivated and proactive in identifying and completing tasks without constant supervision.
- Problemsolving abilities: Ability to identify issues and propose solutions to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Basic knowledge of horticultural practices: Familiarity with plant care techniques, soil management, and pest control is desirable but not essential.
- Willingness to learn: Eagerness to acquire new skills and knowledge through onthejob training and professional development opportunities.
Education and Experience:
- Previous experience or coursework in horticulture, gardening, or related fields is preferred but not required.
- A valid driving licence is essential for travel between our two estates in Armathwaite & Brampton.
Hours of Work:
Normal working hours will be as follows;
- Summer_
- March, April, May, June, July, and August 45 hours per week
- Winter_
- September, October, November, December, January, and February, 35 hours per week
Job Types:
Full-time, Apprenticeship
Salary:
£5.28-£10.42 per hour
