This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a well know medical practice. This is an excellent opportunity for you to learn first hand how the medical practice works. With the skills and knowledge you learn


Role and responsibilities:


  • Greet patients and Visitors to the Practice.
  • Book in, amend and cancel patient appointment in line with practice appointments procedures ensuring optimum efficiency of the appointment system.
  • Ensure that patients without appointments but who need 'Urgent Consultations' are booked into appropriate slots and referred to a GP where necessary.
  • Receive and accurately record requests for home visits, assessing urgency in accordance with the practice's protocols.
  • Respond and/or redirect all patient and visitor requests accordingly.
  • Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and temporary residents, ensure procedures are completed.
  • Sign patients up for online access and SMS text message service.
  • Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.
  • Produce repeat prescriptions according to practice procedures and ensure timely distribution of completed prescriptions.
  • Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy.
  • Restocking of information leaflets as appropriate.
  • Answering incoming telephone calls, ensuring calls are documented and redirected accordingly.
  • Arrange interpreter as necessary.
  • Action reception tasks daily, contact patients.
  • Regularly check electronic documents and file in correct patients records.
  • Scan external documents in correct patients records.
  • Action end of the day procedures, ensure answering machine service for out of hours information is directed appropriately.
  • Make sure E-Learning Training is up to date.
  • Sample handed in over the desk, check patient has labelled correctly and hand to HCA/PN.
  • Record deceased template and update list (electronic).
  • Amalgamation of new patient records.
  • Work safely always in accordance with legislative requirements and practice policy and procedures.
  • Make sure external post is taken to post office each day.
  • Carry out any other duties as requested by GP Partners, Management or Reception Supervisor.
