Full time, Permanent (Hybrid after training period)

Hours of work:7.30am-4.30pm (3pm Friday) - No Weekends

The Opportunity:

Our client is looking for a motivated and attentive individual to join their Global Trade team.

In this role you will be helping with the import and export process for the business by all modes of transport, sea, air, road and courier.

This will involve helping with the preparation of both import & export documentation, liaising with freight agents and customs brokers to get the best service provision, help to drive costs down and maintaining a high level of compliance during this process.

Experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential


Responsibilities of a Global Trade Coordinator include:

  • Overseeing day to day operations within the Global Trade Team to ensure timely dispatch of shipments and accuracy of the documents.
  • Ensuring compliance with up to date legislative and customs requirements.
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders such as sales, aftersales, logistics and finance.
  • Liaising with carriers and freight agents to obtain sea/road/air freight quotes and booking shipments using the correct incoterms.
  • Preparing import clearing instructions for customs brokers, dealing with customs queries and checking import entry to ensure duty & taxes are paid correctly.
  • Ensuring proof of export is obtained in a timely manner for customs audit purposes.
  • Checking and releasing invoices for both freight cost and customs fees to the accounts department.
  • Disputing discrepancies with carriers and freight agents for refund / credit note.
  • Making claims with carriers for loss or damage during transit.
  • Arranging shipments under Inward Processing Relief.
  • Assisting with Chamber of Commerce documents such as ATR, EUR1 and Certificate of Origin.
  • Filling POA and LOA when required.

Responsibilities of a Global Trade Coordinator include:

  • Experience in global freight, trade compliance and customs formalities are essential
  • Understanding of Incoterms and HS codes
  • Experience in brokerage with fast parcel operators (DHL, UPS or Fedex) preferred
  • Effective communicator, with a good telephone manner and customers service skills
  • Microsoft Office knowledge is beneficial
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a busy team
  • Willing to train for further qualifications where appropriate
