Volunteer - Driver
The Disabilities Trust is a national charity, providing residential and home support services to meet the needs of individuals with Acquired Brain Injuries.
We are keen to build a network of volunteers to help us deliver services and activities that can enrich the lives of the people we support.
Volunteers providing their time, skills and experience can help us to offer more opportunities to the people we support.Volunteer Role:
Driver Volunteer
Services:
Shinewater Court, Milfoil Drive, Eastbourne, East Sussex, BN23 8ED
Role Purpose:
To support the Trust in providing a range of driving activities for the people we support.
To support with trips and outings within the local or wider community with the aim of enhancing the lives of the people we support, maximising their independence and improving their wellbeing.
Activities can include:
- Driving and Socialising with our residents within the confines of your volunteering role
- Driving to planned destinations to allow the people we support to engage in community activities, or visit family and friends.
- Help to keep trust vehicles clean and tidy, and report any concerns to a member staff in a timely manner
- Drive the people we support, along with their keyworker or another member of staff to medical appointments
We won't ask you to get involved in the care of the people we support.
We won't ask you to get involved in personal care, financial support, medical activities, such as feeding, or to support or administer medication.
Qualities we'd love you to bring:
- You'll be friendly and go out of your way to understand the needs of the people we support.
- You'll be great at listening.
- You'll be reliable. Always let us know if you can't support when you normally do.
- You'll understand the importance of working within guidelines and always report anything of concern to a supervisor.
Induction and Training
We will provide you with an induction to your role and the training you need to be able to comply with all relevant policy and procedures, including health & safety, safeguarding and confidentiality.
Checks:
We will need to complete reference checks and DBS checks (at no cost to volunteers)
