We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Health Care Support Worker to join our amazing team in the Children's Ward due to us expanding our existing day surgery team.


Are you motivated and enjoy the challenges of helping to look after children and young people attending the ward/day surgery Do you want to be part of a proactive and dedicated ward/ day surgery team? Do you want to develop your skills in ward work and ward/ day surgery on the Children's Ward? If you answer yes, then this could be the job for you.

There may be the shifts on the Children's ward at times which would follow the usual ward shifts times giving you the opportunity to see how the ward works.

What tasks will you do?

As aHealth Care Support Worker you will help patients feel as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

You'll work under the guidance of a healthcare professional such as a nurse and your job will vary depending on the ward you are based, but overall a typical day as aHealth Care Support Worker in this role will involve:


  • Recording of observations
  • Serve meals/food post surgery
  • Contribute to patient assessments
  • Provide care for children, young people and families attending for day surgery
  • At times working on the Children's ward
