Legal and Compliance Counsel - Eaton Socon, United Kingdom - Brush Group
Description
This position sits within the Group Legal & Compliance function providing general and project support to the Group General Counsel who is based in the Loughborough office.
Additionally, there will be a requirement to assist the Group Compliance Manager withembedding compliance initiatives across the business.This role reports to the Group General Counsel.
Main Responsibilities:
- Contract review. The review, analysis and negotiation of business contracts with customers, suppliers and other third parties. Our customers and suppliers form part of the energy and construction industries and we supply both power products and undertakemaintenance services to this group.
- Compliance Integration.
The Legal & Compliance Counsel will be expected to collaborate with the Group Compliance Manager and be accountable for the continued integration of Group compliance policies.
- Supporting the balance of the Power Distribution business with generic legal issues from disputes and litigation through to property, intellectual property and insurance matters.
- Work in a collaboratively with key stakeholders including Finance, Sales, Tendering and Project Management the Group Legal &Compliance Manager.
- Undertake projects and lead discussions of a Legal & Compliance nature.
- Support the integration of a number of recently acquired businesses into the BRUSH Group to deliver improved value to its customer base
Person Specification
Qualifications:
Either:
(i) A UK qualified solicitor having at least - 4 years PQE who has worked within the construction industry - preferably in an in-house role; or
(ii) A contracts specialist who has rounded legal skills and experience and again, has a construction background.
Skills & Experience:
Skills
- Proactive person with a 'can do' attitude who is resilient and uses their initiative and common sense. They will need to be good at influencing and relationship building and a be detail orientated.
Knowledge
- Good technical and working knowledge of contract law as well as possessing sound commercial awareness.
- Any additional legal or compliance experience would be beneficial in this role.
Experience
- Relevant experience of working in a commercial/construction department in private practice or inhouse.
- Ideally a breadth of experience of both private practice and inhouse contracts experience within the energy or construction sectors.
