Description
Offer general assistance to services providers and users and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone

  • Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way
  • Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the Bone Unit including the provision of clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the team
  • Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of staff secondary care and other associated healthcare and wellbeing agencies

Opening up/locking up of the Department and maintaining security in accordance with BCULHB protocols

Maintaining and monitoring the appointment and IT systems

Administering the reimbursement of patient travel claims in accordance with the Health Boards financial procedures.

Book hospital transport for patients.

Issue hearing aid batteries as requested

Inputting patient clinic outcome into WPAS (Patient Administration System)

Compiling the daily bed statements for the community hospitals


Operation of Switchboard Services for the hospital where applicable and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional, including relaying messages for clinic staff and liaising with other agencies.

Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail

Taking messages and passing on information

Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with Health Board procedures

Maintain an electronic diary for meeting room bookings and co-ordinate clinic room usage - ensuring that booking of rooms is recorded and monitored on a regular basis and update Locality Coordinator as appropriate

Provide annual leave and absence cover for alternative site/s during staff absences

Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers
